Digital Communications Manager

NOTE: This is a part-time, contract position.

As a Digital Communications Manager for Jackson Family Wines your mission is to leverage digital communications tools (whether they are blogs, forums, social media, or real world gatherings) to:

  • Create and execute the digital voice of the brand through posts and promotions to encourage greater engagement and traffic to our owned properties and social media channels.
  • Define key performance indicators and implement measurement, analytics, and reporting methods to gauge success.
  • Work with PR and Marketing team to explore and identify ways to integrate digital media into business strategies and campaigns.
  • Identify changing trends and best practices for to ensure online relevancy, amplify reach, and promote engagement.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Plan and execute an editorial agenda for selected brands on JFW digital properties.
  • Oversee community management for selected JFW brands across social media.
  • Craft a “voice” that uniquely speaks to the particular brand channels you represent.
  • Develop consumer-facing stories that chronicle artisan winemaking and viticulture.
  • Analyze previous efforts to enhance the effectiveness of posted content, with an eye toward creating deeper engagement opportunities.
  • Work directly with PR and Brand Marketing teams to develop innovative promotional opportunities that users will embrace.
  • Provide ongoing, measureable insights to the product teams on how users are experiencing JFW digital channels, and where changes/improvements can be made.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • A 4-year degree in marketing, communications, business, journalism or English or equivalent work experience.
  • Wine industry experience, preferably in the field of fine wine social media marketing.
  • Three or more years professional experience in social media or community management – in-house or at an agency.
  • Be equally comfortable developing content, communicating with users, or presenting to internal teams.
  • Have the ability to crisply synthesize a combination of metrics / anecdotal data.
  • Be smart, fast, comfortable with change, innovative and entrepreneurial.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Four to seven years of experience in product marketing, editorial or creative services, or social media management.
  • Experience using admin tools for Social Media and blog management.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop and digital SLR cameras.
  • A track record of successful digital marketing campaigns and promotions.
  • Knowledge of the Wine Industry.
  • Passion for brand storytelling and technology.
  • Experience with luxury product marketing is a plus.
  • Can-do, collaborative, results-oriented work style.
